Christogram rings
Number recorded on PAS database: 6
Christogram rings contain a short, abbreviated inscription of the name of Jesus Christ. In Greek, the name Jesus is ‘ΙΗΣΟΥΣ’ with the first three letters being translated as iota, eta and sigma; these are represented by the letters ‘I’, ‘H’ and (‘S’ or ‘C’) respectively and it is ‘IHC’ that is present on the few examples of Christogram rings recorded on the PAS database.
The rings date from around the 15th C and are therefore likely to be subject to reporting under the Treasure Act.
